Lads it's like with women everyone has different tastes what I think isn't necessarily what anyone else thinks and the same with what ye think, that's why dealers can sell different products because someone will think it's good sure if everyone had my taste ye would all be driving subaru wagons and fords for the daily runner :) we can just agree to disagree on the opc ashtray :) :)

Wouldn't life be incredibly boring if we all had the same opinions, likes, and interests.

Yup, but I always try and get an unbiased one.

dave if it were me and I'd narrowed it down to the two cars go org a good test drive somewhere with two cars your intrested in after that you'll know yourself which suits you best [emoji106]

Agree totally with Ciaran on this post go drive both on rough roads smooth roads etc a good test drive and decide for yourself then based on your impressions of both cars. Personally I pick the st but I like fords :)

ST for me -- 5 pot soundtrack rules, handling pretty good out of the box, easy and reasonably reliable upgrades available if wanted and think will hold value better even though dearer on tax (confused on tax you quoted though as would the '06 2.5 ST not be 1080 tax?).

BTW... push hard for a discount as there will be few willing to foot the bill for running a 2.5 and don't be surprised to get close to a grand off that price level you indicated, or even a little over, if pushed hard on such a vehicle.

Negotiated on two different mid sized diesels this week and in each case got over 2 grand off on '08 cars - and would be popular cars unlike a 2.5 petrol - if you don't ask you don't get!

P.s. Ciaran is on the money too - go drive one of each and see what you like!

Id still pick the golf of that era hot hatch...bit down on power but all round just a nicer car...after that I'd get a really really nice ep9 civic type r, lovely revvy N/A engine and lovely gearbox, not going to win any drag races with the others but is a better driving tool, bad image but f@ck all that their fun cars,
next I'd go with the megane cup ..probably get a few raised eye brows for that but it's the best handling if that's what your after...quickest as well..if your looking at lap times...renualts have a horrible reputation in Ireland but they make the best hot hatches

Out those 2 St hands down

Why is tax on an 06 2.5l €1294 I thought tax on the 2.5 was €1080
