Very near the finished product now but ?finished? is a word I?ll use lightly.
One of my main hold ups has been the exhaust, I needed to remove the side exit as it was way to loud. Myself and Dec stripped this out over two evenings and fitted a new rear exit pipe and an extra back box from a formula Renault.
I have another back box bought which I was waiting for delivery, but never came. Long story but pretty much got stung for a 60 euro back box. Happy to report it?s the only time anyone, in the 4 years of building this car actually did me a wrong turn.
With the new back box now fitted it?s a lot quieter, but without loosing its nice sound. Very happy with this little job and as always huge thanks to Dec for all his help with it.
Next on the list was to build back up the front of the car. I also cut away the centre section of the bumper to make more room for the extra coolers.
The new splitter would mimic the old one only the material would be 6mm marine ply.
I used aluminium before but said I?d change it up a little this time. I have enough in one sheet to make 2 for 30 euro so I?ll make a second for ?when? I break this one.
I did paint this with whatever paint I had on the shelf, just to seal the cut edges more than anything. Not sure how long it will last but the car is a garage queen so shouldn?t get wet between events.
I still have bits to do but it?s pretty much there and I?m delighted to have the car back together.
She got her first wash on paddy?s day, I?m surprised how well this livery is holding up after 2 seasons racing with very little rub marks anywhere.
We are holding of the mapping for now as it?s not overly important right now with the current health crisis going on. It was due in today but I didn?t drop it of, we agreed to see how things look in the next week of two. Can?t imagine we will be racing any time soon.
This is how she sits for now[emoji106]
