So after getting the car home I started working on the damage.
The rear driver side wheel is pretty much scrap and the whole trailing arm was completely twisted. After removing the trailing arm and clamping in the vice you can see how bad it was.
My options were to try get a new trailing arm but Citroen don?t stock them anymore. But a phone call to my Sponsor at Hugo Loonam Motors and I was collecting a full car for spares. It?s just a 4 door 1.1 but the trailing arm is the same. I just needed to remove the axle and trailing arm and rebuild with new bearing and seal kit.
That?s the new donor:
Cleaned up new trailing arm fitted with new bearings and seals. I fit one extra bearing for extra strength and dump the plastic sleeve that comes with the kit.
All nice and straight again but need to try pick up a new OZ rim now
Don?t mind the red arrow that was me trying to explain something to someone at some stage!
There is some body work to be done but dent repair Mullingar will sort that.
With my bumper and new front splitter in Sh1t i sourced this front bumper from a 106 wide arch kit.
The plan was to split this, join it and make it fit. So last night I reduced it by 2? and bonded it with fiberglass and wire mesh from my old bumper.
Happy enough with how it looks now! Just need to fill the split and give it a coat of primer before wrapping. I did need a new grill which I had, but I wrapped that myself with some EBay carbon wrap.
I also had really bad brake shudder and that was killing my late braking in the car, ?which is where I make time? this turned out to be cracked discs. I have since went back to standard discs without any grooves.
The impact was so bad it broke my aluminum cable shifter bracket! This needs to be welded and possibly made a bit stronger.
I?m hoping to have everything sorted for the May Bank Holiday weekend Track Day but it will be a big push
