Track day car

Started work on the new shifter this evening.
The mission was to get the selectors off cut the ball and drill on the new ones.
The top selector had to be cut on the car with a hacksaw[emoji27]
Then drill it out, which was awkward but got it done.
The lower one I could remove by tapping the securing pin through.
Not painless but got it done all the same[emoji106]

Another little step closer to future classics racing this year.
Went down to Mondello today for my National B racing licence course and test.
It was quite helpful and the instructors were spot on for the day.
We don't the theory end of things before lunch and after that we got out on track in the gas powered Mazda 3,s.
We done about 7 laps with the instructed behind the wheel, giving lines and driving tips.
Then it was my turn to do a few laps with some instruction from the instructor. After that we done 2 laps as an assessment with no instruction, the aim here is just not to bin it or it's a fail.
All and all it was really relaxed and helpfully and the instructor didn't seem to mind me ringing the next of the little gas powered beast[emoji23]
So glade to report I passed the test and now just need to send away for me new licence[emoji106]

That's the first time I have ever seen all A,s on anything with my name attached[emoji1]

Thanks lads blessed with the day I'd have loved to get more laps in.
Them Mazda,s are gutless but had a surprising amount of grip considering the crazy body roll[emoji27]

So at last got the CAE shifter fitted today.
It was a big enough job with a lot of modifying and welding the selector arms.
Happy with the result it looks cool and feels nice and solid[emoji106]

Got some testing done today and really happy with the results.
The new gearbox and shifter are after transforming the car,it's staying in power between gear changes and just seems to be pulling all the time.
All that's left now is to sort tracking and get all 4 c5 alloy steelies back on with nice new rubber.
I'll have some video up later[emoji106]
