my pu-ka project

The ka finally drove out of the workshop instead of being pushed out.
Today I finished the wiring off.
Fitted the radiator and slimline fan.
Made a bracket for the throttle cable.
Did final adjustments to the front engine mount.
Serviced the engine with fuchs titan 10w40.
Filled the gearbox with fuchs titan 75/90
Bled the clutch.
Re-Installed the battery isolator pull cord.
Re-installed the windscreen cowl.
Reall taking shape now and almost ready for the mapping in Martin traceys [emoji106]

So a big issue I found once I installed the 2.0 in the ka was the bonnet would not close or even close to closing.
The cosworth inlet manifold is just too big and no way that I'm removing that for the sh*t plastic original one.
Also another issue highlighted by Adrian was that if I ever race it the scrutineers will not pass it with the lifted bonnet iv ran on it for years. So I decided to cut a great big u shaped slot in and rise the centre of the bonnet to clear the engine bay and also allow me to run the bonnet at its original position.
Here's the very early stage of the process.
Also it is function over form [emoji23][emoji23]IMG_20180930_213540_494.jpgDSC_0035.jpgDSC_0036.jpgDSC_0037.jpgDSC_0039.jpgDSC_0040.jpgDSC_0041.jpgDSC_0042.jpgDSC_0043.jpgDSC_0044.jpgDSC_0045.jpgDSC_0046.jpgDSC_0047.jpg

Very 'mad max' looking dec,????, I like it,

Another little bit of work on the bonnet this evening finished off the welding on the sides and cut a piece for the front then spotted it in place. DSC_0050.jpgDSC_0051.jpg

You aiming for that impreza bonnet vent look Dec ????
You can't get too far from the six stars :clap:

:clap:Ah I thought you were going to leave the scoop in it as use as a cold air duct to the air filter  Looked cool
it's filled in now it looks like a bulge in the big mustangs bonnets   Great work and as you say function over form

If I left it open I'd loose 50bhp Joe [emoji23][emoji23]
My taught doing it was kinda based on the power bulges on muscle cars like the mustangs. I'm going to do a graphic on the front and sides of it when it's done [emoji106]

Bonnet now completely finished with the metal work all that's left is to do some filling and priming then get it wrapped. Not to everyone's taste but it is functional and its the first time since it was a road car back in 2012 that the bonnet closes completely and is on up on spacers [emoji6]

Also made a new exhaust for it. Some testing planned for tomorrow night and then mapping next Friday so fingers crossed [emoji1696] it's going to make decent power and go OK. DSC_0055.jpgDSC_0056.jpgDSC_0058.jpgDSC_0066.jpgDSC_0067.jpg

So off to a private road local to us for a bit of testing and it went very well only two issues with it.
One was the idle screw came loose and jammed the throttle closed so big thanks to @dunnervts for his help and tools to fix it on the spot.
Next issue is that the alternator is overcharging alot we were seeing nearly 20 volts on the meter so we disconnected the alternator and it was grand. Need to get the alternator checked and solve the problem but overall I'm very happy with its first drive in 9 months. Some work still to do but we are close [emoji16][emoji108]
