Any prize not claimed at this stage will automatically be regarded as forfeited.
RACING
Starting Order - As of this weeks event (Sun 3rd Sept) the starting line up for race one will be decided by a random draw. The grid for race two will be the reverse of the FINISHING order of race one. The Final grid will, as normal be determined by the number of points accumulated during the heats, with the driver with the most points on pole.
JOHN McLOUGHLIN Memorial Cup, Sat 2nd Dec The last round of the year, to be staged at Aghadowey, will again be held as a memorial race to our departed friend. As well as this being a double points round (for those who missed the first round) the memorial race gives every driver in every class the chance of walking away with this prestigious award. The format of the race will be that of a Super Final. Every qualifier will receive a contenders plaque on the day, with the main award to be presented at our Championship awards night Do at the end of the season. Further details will be released closer to the time, but already this promises to be a fitting tribute and a great crescendo to our most successful ever season.
DRIFTING
@ BISHOPSCOURT
The top 8 cars from the qualifying stages will progress to the Semi-Final stages, held during the main part of the program. The aim for the judges at this stage will be to identify the bottom 4 for elimination (5th, 6th, 7th and 8th positions.)
The Final 4 will be paired off to do battle. The 2 losers from each pairing will then battle for 3rd spot, before the two winners battle it out for 1st and 2nd places.
King of The Court
The event on Sunday 12th Nov at Bishopscourt will be a one day Open Drift Championship. This is in addition to it being the penultimate round of the 2006 DRIFTNI championship. Drivers from all over Ireland, plus some from further a field, will be invited to contest this once annual event. This will be the chance for even newcomers to pitch their skills against the very best in the sport, as every single driver entered on the day will stand an equal chance of walking away with the title King of The Court.
DRAG
We are currently in the early stages of purchasing our own Pro Drag Strip timing equipment. This will enable us to measure reaction times, 60ft times, terminal speed and of course the total elapsed time.
With this new equipment we intend to hold a season long Drag Championship, beginning January 2007. This will be the first championship of its kind in Ireland and will undoubtedly take Drag racing to levels never before seen within these shores. Regulations for the championship will be published in due course.
Merchandise We soon intend to make DRIFTNI clothing, etc available for purchase at future events. This could be the new No Fear gear!
DVDs A Best of Bishopscourt 2006 DVD will be released later in the year. This will include coverage of every element of the events, including Show n Shine, Drifting, Drag Strip, Diffing and Racing as well as interviews from drivers and spectators. Look out for the cameras; you never know your luck!
Web Updates In the coming weeks the www.sideways-racing.com web site will undergo a lot of updates. Soon all results, points and pictures from each round will be on display from the very next day after each event.
