2002 Impreza wrx

Signs are good from the ad. Priced correctly, not overly modified to oblivion and has an Escort beside it so he knows his cars. Looks can be deceiving though so ask him about everything.
 
Seem's a little bit expensive for 2002 Irish/UK Wrx.
But if it's as tidy as picture it's worth what you will pay for it.
Wheels look nice.
And has an Sti look about it.
Sun visor could be a bit too low.
Front reg will have to be changed for Nct.

But I'd buy a blob Wrx for that money as its a better car
Not a bug it would want to be a STi for 5k

Well, not everyone can afford paying for the STI in terms of insurance and road tax.. and while you sure can find blob for the money, it might not be as clean. I would probably go and check the car regardless, maybe you could handle the price down a bit... and I dont think 5k is too much for well kept bugeye WRX
 
He's chancing his arm at 5500,nct due soon aswell,if it's what you want it might be worth offering him 4k and move up a bit if need be,I doubt he's had much intrest in it,it's your money at the end of the day.
 
Thanks for the replies.. I am going for a look thursday.. Hopefully it is as clean as it looks. What should i be looking out for when checking it over.
 
Well, its an older car, so deffo go and knock around the car for rust issues, look from below, if there are any oil leakage, mainly in transmission and under turbo, see how is clutch responding, try to shift between gears a bit faster. see tyres of uneven tyre wear. Dont let him start the car before you are there, if he does, wait for it till it cools down completely and start it from cold, give a listen for unusual knocks.

!!!When turning on the key, pay attention that ALL lights on dash come on, including check engine light light!!!

ask loads of questions, when was oil changed, what oil was he using, when was timing belt done, etc etc etc etc...

And remember, even with the best inspection of the car, it might look and sound super good, after a week of driving, something will appear that you did not notice before...
 
No mention of it been mapped but it has a boost controller
Test nearly out
Bring someone with you if you don't know what your looking at
 
How long does current owner have it? May have some info if it's a car I'm thinking of. Looks similar.
 
he also has the escort up forsale so he could be stuck for cash, id go in low and see but to be honest i dont like the sound of it having a MANUAL boost controller, there a recipe for disaster, go in with your eyes open
 
I'd be bringing a mechanic with me
if you don't know what your looking at it could be an expensive mistake for the sake of a few quid it's well worth it imo

at a glance , would agree with colm . too pricey . if he knocked a grand off it be more realistic .
