Verdict on this lads

Another dose ain't it .

We are as a club , an ageing club car wise as the last brand new cars were 07 08 cars .

We always have faced problems insurance wise as we drive understandably high risk cars but we'll maintained cars none the less , many 10 year old cars on here are better looked after than some 11 and 12 reg motors I looked at for the missus a few months back .We are basically been hit twice now by insurers for Age and risk .but we will get around it as we usually do .

The people I feel sorry for who will be hit hard by this are those on minimum wage who need their car for work . Those who essentially can't afford a newer car. And soon won't be able to insure their old car . What kinda country are we living in .

I cant see this working, its descriminating against someone with an older car. not every old car is a shitbox, but there definitely is the fair share out there. The problem is the joke of an NCT system. A week after my first time around Mondello, with two badly worn tyres and useless brakes it sailed through the NCT.

Saying that i would say 90% of 15 year old enthusiasts cars are safer than most other normal cars on the road.

Shower of tossers
but sure them 2 even if not year I'm sure want nothing to do with Subarus even if this doesn't come in
classic insurance is the way forward in my view as long as you have another car in the house

I'm going back to college so I bought the 1.6 wagon Dave had for sale and Axa are refusing to insure me on it due to it's age. I'm with TheAA underwritten by Axa. They did the same thing to me with the Mazda a couple years back. I'll never look to Axa for a car quote again and I'll tell any future brokers outright that Axa are never to underwrite my policy. The only option TheAA could give me was Aviva were willing to quote me on it but I have to cancel the policy with Axa, lose a years NCB, send back the Axa documents then take out a fresh policy with Aviva for the low low price of €2000.

The stories in the papers are completely off to what I've gone through. Axa stating to journalists that they have one of the widest acceptance criterias and they wont refuse based on car age when that's exactly what they're doing to me. The papers saying Aviva and Liberty wont cover anything 15 or 20 years old respectively yet Aviva and Liberty are the two companies that are quoting me on the Impreza as new business. They're a law amongst themselves and make the rules as they go along. There needs to be a proper regulatory body to pull their necks in.

She'd be 20 year John - did you try Campion for a quote (they specialise in older stuff).
The sister got a great quote a few years back on her MX5 and still with them - there was nothing else that came near.

Tried everywhere Charles. Campion can't give me a quote due to age of vehicle and not seen as classic but even if it was, they couldn't give classic policy as I'm under 25.

I shouldn't need to tbh. I have my full license since I was 17, nearly 7 years. Come October I'll have 6 years NCB as my insurance has always been in my name. The idea behind the Impreza is a runaround to go down the shops etc while I'm back in college. I have the A6 there but there's a couple coolant pipes split and worn that I need to replace as she's losing coolant so want to have something driving while I do that.

I'll probably wait it out to October, take my extra years NCB then go back to Liberty. Never had any trouble when I was with Liberty.
Sorry to hear John -- not cool!

Aye. Load of me balls. Here I am trying to educate myself and get a better career and cutting costs in the process to give my family as little struggle as possible for a better future and the insurance man nails ya to a wall. Typical! :D
