Race Bike Query (Cycling)

Finally have the few funds saved for getting my race bike for triathalons,
Few questions, have sourced new bikes (viking) in drogheda from quay cycles, new bike 14speed, propper frame for me at 6ft.
what i'm wondering about is, are these bikes any good, would the gearing be enough, i dont know is it the same as like a 21speed mountain bike or are they done differently???
Also have sourced a trek 1.2 wsd '09, same price but only a 9 speed, Would the bigger range of gearing of the viking be better, or what is best thing t look for.
Thanks
John

Speak to Keith Dublin

He's the main man when it comes to cycling

No bother man,

Keith has a shop so he'll know what's what

Try to get it through the 'ride to work' scheme.Save you the tax so you can then upgrade to a Trek 1.7 which is what i have.Easily 10 mins faster for every hour of cycling than when on my mountain bike 21 speed, and i've cycled Cork to Galway.Don't buy a dedicated triathlon bike unless you do loads of them.Good luck

Stay away from Viking and the wsd is a womans bike alot of shops will try sell as a gents so watch out.
The top tube is shorter than a gents and the bars will be smaller.
I know a lot of lads that ride woman's bikes but if your 6 foot you need a gents.
Trek,Giant,GT, Claud butler or Dolan have some nice bikes for handy money.

Give these people a ring and they will be able to point you towards something that will suit your needs!!! Ask for Kieth, Steven (both rideroad racing and time trials for Ireland) or Noel (owner & father of the 2 lads)
Tell them Neil Hammerton gave you their number!!!!

They also run Orchard Wheelers Cycling team aswell..... I used to train with them when i still lived in the north
