If your importing it from the uk you can drive it,
But if your importing it from japan you can't, they won't let you leave the docs with out it been on a trailer or truck
That can't be right Tom, unless there's no plates on the car, I'm sure if there a plate from any country in the world on the car it can be driven on Irish roads with proof of insurance.

Just like when thousands of Irish drive to Europe for there holidays or work, can't see why Japan would be any different

The car has been de registered so has no plates ( Japanese ) that's what he means Johnny
That makes seance alright but why do Japan de register there cars??

I think they can re use the reg again on a different car

Some countries the reg is transferable, for example the Dutch de-register their yokes going for export, some will put an export registration on it. If your exporting a brand new car from Ireland you can get a ZZ plate. Piece of useless info for you boys

Don't they get tax breaks for removing old cars from the road?

Not sure being honest. But I know its hard to get old cars through a shaken(spelling) basically Japanese Nct

Also, you can't insure a car without a reg (Only way is to cover it is with an existing policy).

Mine was fucked landing anyway so didn't mind paying for the transporter. Dead battery, blown fuse, bald tyres and badly needed a service.

Book the VRT now so you can have a date THAT week ready. If you wait, the date could be weeks away when it arrives.
