looking for a new project to keep me occupied when the wrx is finished,
if anyone knows of anything interesting laying around somewhere needing some tlc let me know,even stick up a pic or 2....
don't know what I want yet, something 60's...70's...80's... maybe a mini,capri,manta,gti,sri etc...deffo no japs :thumbsup:

bodywork would be a absolute nightmare :puke3:
Buy something rust free 205gti mk2 golf gti etc. or similar if you find a clean bodied onethe usual suspects would be where I would start :thumbsup:
 
get something differant there was a Maserati biturbo on donedeal 45k on yhe clock think it was 1700 or so its where my money would be at :thumbsup: :thumbsup:
 
was thinking of a 205gti but would like something older if I could, even a box shaped 2 door kadett or a tr7 triumph....

price would be a bit higher
but a vintage for the cheap tax and no n.c.t.
Duffman was saying that to me a while back and he was right
its the way to go for sure
pre 1984 is vintage but some told me the other day it has now changed to pre 1980 not sure if that is the case
but a lot to be said about
200 euro a year or so for insurance
80 euro or so a year road tax
a car that is not seen much on the road and admired
doesn't loose money in fact most likely goes up in value
easy to fix and maintain
rust is the only main obstacle after that you can do pretty much everything d.i.y.
I used to have a lovely merc 230 ce white on amg wheel sold it and always regretted it
Id buy it back in a heart beat
There is a lot off nice metal in the classic car market
 
would love a fiat 131, my uncle had one back in the day,loved that car.....

maybe a bit mad here but would you consider an escort xr3i or rs or xr2i turbo Fiesta , thinking is that there a bit newer than the others mentioned above but the tin worm may have not got as established as older cars and they are still tuneable to throw out decent bit of power . they might not be as desireable as some of the others mentioned yet but in another few years they will .
 
he had a reanult 21 turbo aswell,christ that felt like a rocket ship on the road when I was about 12 :scoobydoo:
 
my old fella only drove 80's fords when I was a small fella so they don't do it for me,
fiesta,escort,orion and then a big fooking granada :whistle:

I used to have a lovely fiat ritmo I had all prepped for stock car I got it off the Italian embassy it was orange and absolutelly spotless and some pr1ck stole it and burnt it out before I got to bring it so that was the end off my motorsport career as a wee boy
The old fella also had a opel mant with lovely cibie spot lights he bought off a aer lingus pilot
I absolutely loved it and cried for days when he sold it
