New fuel from Maxol (not E85)

Sounds worth trying if that's correct, and t'would be cheaper & easier to find than V-Power.

Hello Greenwagon,

If afraid V-Power in the South of Ireland is only 95Ron, its 98-99 in the UK and up the North

If this Maxol fuel is 99.2ron its very interesting :ponder:

Cheers,

Michael

I know that Michael, but the non-turbo cars (like mine) seem to run better on V-Power than the regular petrol we have to endure, and it's hard enough to find Shell petrol stations here in Co. Clare that sell it as it is (I have to go to Kilrush or Ennis), without having to go "upt' North" to fill 'er up!  ;)

Anyway, I've sent an enquiry off to Maxol seeking confirmation of the RON rating and I'll post their reply when I get one.

I doubt it will be 99RON here !!
remember the ROI is one of the only countries in Europe
to tax fuel on it's RON ratting ................that's why we don't have it
too expensive both for consumer and supplier.

......................Finger's crossed though

I know of a few people that emailed and they were told 99.2 ron.

Ive sent an email too, Maybe they mean it will be 99 in the UK.

Its made up of 95% petrol which presume is 95 and the other 5% bio-ethanol which should increase the octane rating anyway so id say we will have 99 here.

a lot of things nowadays are tax emempt or have tax relief because they are "eco-friendly" so maybe this applies in this case and that is how they will be able to sell it here. Also the fact that the bio-ethanol is added in cork rather than being imported as a finished product could have some bearing on the tax that is paid.

Just a thought and as funnyclub says, it is only normal petrol mixed with bio-ethanol which gives the added octane rating so I cant see any way for them to make it 95octane here

So it'll be kind of a "ready-mix" of 95 + octane booster?

Had to laugh at this, next time someone askes what u run here on just say cheese lol

"The bio-ethanol fuel in E5 is 100% organic and is currently made from whey, a milk derivative and a bi-product of the Carbery Milk Products Cheese plant in Ballineen, Co. Cork."

I'm reminded of an early casein plastic called "Erinoid" (registered 1913) because it was made using milk curd from Ireland!

Isn't milk amazing stuff ...

Hmmmm... More stuff gleaned from their site...

What Vehicles can use E85?

The Ford Focus FFV and Focus C-Max FFV, the Saab 95 BioPower and the C30, S40 and V50 from Volvo are currently the flexible fuel vehicles available on the Irish market. Maxol does not recommend the use of E85 in a vehicle unless it is designated by the manufacturer as a flexible fuel vehicle. With regard to the use of engine conversion kits, Maxol recommends that car owners seek advice from their car manufacturer before proceeding with a kit installation.

What Octane is E85?

Maxol's E85 fuel is 104 Octane.

Doesn't sound like we can use it without a conversion kit
