Get yourself a real RA with service history and you should be fine. RA's have closed deck blocks-much much tougher than the open decks. I dont like the look of that one above-certainly not an RA-owner is just tryin to pawn it off by sayin it has lightweight bonnet etc because compared to other cars-subaru bonnets are very light. Its like 330bhp glanzas you see advertised-large pinch of salt required.

Well im just trying to sell my own car at the minute and he offered this as a straight swap and it'd get me out of a hole.
I honestly think he just doesnt know, someone probably told him it was an STI going by the clocks, can blame him for lack of knowledge,im pretty much in the same boat.

Would you believe im selling a GT (the one im swapping) and had the set up running at 223ATF lol
And i actually know of 2 starlets running just a few bhp shy of 330bhp with a massive spec costing triple mine, and mine cost about 5k

Would you buy a car off someone who doesnt even know what it is??? How well serviced do you thing its likely to be?

Like i said ill look at it,if it doesnt feel right ill walk away,im not going to take something that isnt right

Thats a wrx, is it on irish or Uk reg?
[/quote]
Cheers,at last :)

Irish plates,galway reg

If this goes through and i get it,whats the best way for me to get it running safe?
Would it be best to get it remapped on an apexi ECU or can you flash the standard one?
Just dont want it going pop

I very rarely drive my cars on,and if i do i change early and its not for long.If i want to drive hard i go to bishopscourt.

unfortunetly you cant map the standard ecu on that year subaru, only very late 98, all 99 and 00 classicsc ecu can be mapped, so you may buy the likes of apexi etc etc, if its not modified in any way, and you use E5 petrol, she will be fine.. but decats, boost controllers, induction kits etc etc all really need mapping for to remain safe andget most gain from.
Keep an eye out for 2nd apexi ecu, lots of cheap 2nd hand bits around

Had the same problem on the starlet, can be a pain but needs to be done.
How much would a Power FC go for 2nd hand for one of these? There ridiculas money on a starlet.
Or is there a rule of thumb concerning the ECU vs FPR to go for?I generally dont like using the FPR's becasue it affects the whole rev range but money is tight.
So E5 petrol is a must?
