my 99 version 5 coupe sti failed test on emmisions

first time i put it threw the readings were
limits depend on year of manufacture
low idle co0.03vol% above0.50% fail
750rpm hc 25ppm above 0 ppm fail




high idle lambda 0.95 not between 0.97 and 1.03 fail
2970rpm co 1.79vol% above 30% fail
hc25ppm above 200ppm fail




that was the first time i put it threw and i got a mates cat and lambda for a retest thinkin mine was fucked and the second readings came back worse






low idle co4.92vol% above 50% fail
710rpm hc 196ppm above 0ppm fail




high idle lambda0.85 not between 0.97 and 1.03 fail
2760rpm co5.72vol% above0.30% fail
hc 136ppm above 200ppm fail




anyone know whats up????
any info greatly appriceated cheers
 
Hi Eoin!

My old accord went down on the low idle as there was a leak in the exhaust system. Might be worth a check!
 
hi eoin welcome to the forum :thumbsup:. you just barley failed on your first reading was your car up to temperature like nice and hot when you did the test or was it cold after sitting in the car park .
 
I put diptane in mine and drove it hard to warm it up before the test its comes with a disclaimer :) think a member on here did the same and damaged the engine but if that was the diptane or not i dont know.
 
It could have been sittin for around 10 min at most. But it got a good driving back to the test. Would u think I need a new lambda and cat? Anyone know what sort of money they are new?? Cheers
