Mapping in the South

Rich3248

Petrolheads
Hey lads,

Found this impreza but has all kinds of mods such as anti lag and launch control on it. doesnt seem to have a decent map on it either.

also dont see a huge advantage of anti lag or launch control on a road car/daily driver.

so my question is, how would you get the anti lag and launch control wiped off it or would you be better off getting a decent map ?

sorry if this is worded poorly, not quite down with the lingo about mapping yet

Also is there anywhere in the South (cork area) who does mapping and how much would it cost for a decent map to get a car running properly without the anti lag or launch control?

Sound!

Richard

Do you know if your car has been mapped using Ecutek software or what has been used? Or if it's an aftermarket ecu
What year car is it?

It's a potential future purchase so I have no details on the ECU. I will ring and find out. It's a 2000 Sti (bugeye)

Its should not be active all the time should be on a switch , simple way of "wiping" it off without being smart is either dont turn it on or remove the switch.

Hi RICH3248.......there is no where in Cork that
can map a car correctly , plenty of lads trying it but
stay well clear . There is a Lad out in CIT that the rally lads go to
but he wont do road cars .......well unless you know him .

Most important thing when buying your Subaru , is have some one
who knows check it out . There is 3 lads i could recommend for you
but Mark Murphy (also a trader here) is based in Douglas and knows everything
there is to know !!

Just spotted this on Done deal ............i don't know the car but I recognize some of the paper work

Thanks for the info Niall. That's the car I'm on about. It's also the car I was looking at months ago but too many problems. Some of the lads told me leave it off but I think it's stunning and according to the owner it
Seems all the problems are fixed.

If I could give you a call to discuss it? If you know anything more about it?

Cheers

I would say so. Apparently there was a deposit on it for the last few weeks and now there's not?

That used to belong to bearxxx (aiden) from Kerry! He had it a long while and I suspect he did a lot of the work on it. Try giving him a pm and see if he replies but he hasn't logged on since last August!

I tried to PM him last time I was looking at it but no reply.

Anyone know the car personally now? Lads from Waterford on here?

I dont understand what a local waterford man that sees the car drive by could tell you about it imo.

i believe last thread went through all of this

http://isdc.ie/discussion/index.php?topic=40577.msg463680#msg463680

i believe your looking for someone to tell you what your looking to hear type thing.

As said before car could be perfect. but fact lads are pulling turbos off and scratching there heads and putting them back on isnt a good sign.

secondly was not mapped for the vf35. was mapped i believe originally for a vf30 so that map is out the window.

the car needs to be minimum compression tested and borescope inspection and general health lookover.

thats not gonna happen on a driveway.

Well I knew there was a mapping issue hence the thread.

But you are probably right, I'm hoping to hear its 100% and that's probably not the case.

Right time to move on!

Any for sale up your way Dave?

Someone slap me if necessary!

"Comp and leak down, all cylinders above 150 and less than 5% leakage."
"new turbo in it now and it's running 100%"
"Standard WR1 ECU"
"Anti lag and launch control are mapped but I never use them"

Just more info from the owner

Quitish..... Now you have been slapped.. Will you ffs go and buy one of the many other nice bugeyes on donedeal.

if you like the car and dont want to listen to reason and have 3-4k ready for a rebuild work away and buy it it might never miss a beat thats the chance you take

Lad if you're looking for a nice clean bugeye check out brads jdm prodrive one it's a 02 and is in the the for sale section,it's the car i'd be going for if it was me

Thanks for the advice lads, as I said it will be my first Subaru so I want it to be a good one. Almost went Evo except the lads on the forum are useless and no help whatsoever.

Yeah brads one is nice. It's been for sale since last August?

Where is he based? A presume lads on here know the car and can vouch for it?
