Petrolheads
lads i have a quick question about insurance
the missus wrote off her car during the week
the insurance company has come back with an offer
do we have to accecpt this offer its a bit on the low side
cheers in a advance

I dont think so, when someone wrote off my dad's car they offered him silly money.

He rang them and asked are you paying in installments or what? they said no thats it so he sent the cheque back and they nearly doubled the amount on the next cheque.

But thats nearly 10 years ago

No you don't have to accept their first offer if you feel they are undervalueing the car.
You may need to prove to them what it would cost to replace the car like for like so get some quotes from garages etc

alan.

As above, just refuse it and use examples of similar cars for sale in garages/carzone etc to show your point.
The money they offer you should be enough to replace what you lost and no less in theory!

yea shes fine cally she was in town at the time it happened
doing about 25mph woman in frount decides to do u turn
and she clips her frount wing  cant understand how a car can be written off at such
low speed but there ya go

Unfortunatey if you are in a accident and are not the person at fault
you still lose out to some degree
generally a insurance comany will only give the TRADE value price of a car
However I agree that you may be able to ask for more tell them how much it will cost you to replace the car with one similar
do your research and e mail them similar cars of carzone
Also might help to go to a main dealer and get a letter stating how much it will cost to replace your vehicle with another similar one
Hope everything works out and the Wife is o.k. IS DEFINETELY THE MAIN THING

my 99 b4 was stolen end of last year
insurance made an offer
argued with them
sent them carzone adds of similar
plus photos of my car
plus last serive report
plus auction sheet from japan

they raised their offer by 1000
accpeted it

moral of story - you cant get sonmething if you negotiate but not much
i had imported the car myself so i came out ok
if ihad bought same car off dealer
i would have been down 2-2500k
