there mental in these places , i am in the middle of a dispute with them too, over my bike, they want vat/vrt as if bike was 2013. and v5 is clearly 2009 as stated on it!.

no talkin them, so insured it on english plates till its resolved, but they havin a clue
 
Wanna watch its not taken off ya. Think you can only leave it on UK plates for a month after entering state.

Insurance companies WILL NOTIFY CUSTOMS.
Liable to fine(think its 10% on top of VRT) and payment of VRT plus storage and towing fees etc

Remember they have more powers than gardai and can enter premices to seize goods without a warrant
