engine spec question

does anyone know anything about a gentelmans agreement about some subarus in japan,
the reason i ask is my own car is a gc8d48d its a wrx witch was made late 96 to early 97,

and i have read on a couple of different sites that this engine was 300ps not as much torque
as an sti, i seem to remember sti ony being about 10 pounds foot different beter get that right :lol:
but there was a gentelmens agreement to market this car as 280ps, to give the sti a chance
ive read this on some tec site i think a few months back,
any ideas welcome

yeah it was quated at 280bhp it was a non sti out the same time as the type r version 3

the first jap car to break the gentlemens agreement was the Impreza S202... ALL japs car up to that were 276BHP.

all jap cars were not the spec c ra comes out of japan over 300

offically yes..but gto's and gtr's are above 300
