Evening Lads

A friend of mine has an EJ20GDW1HE in his 92 JDM WRX and was wondering what is required to reach around 300bhp?

Also what ECU is recommend, AP will more than likely mapping once complete.

Engine appears completely stock.
All advice welcome.

Sti Turbo , sti injectors , fuel pump , link Ecu Etc . But engine needs to be healthy and in good order

Mapping for 100 ml nf wouldn't hurt either give it the best chance to make power

Am I right in saying internals are the same?

Not really as sti heads would have different cams and probably bigger ports and usually would have forged pistons So a few differences

Sound, would you still be ok mapping with Sti turbo and injectors without opening the engine?

Yes as the engine can only give what it will give . Personally I’d leave it alone and standard as it’s worth more standard in the long run

As Joe said I would leave it alone. Your talking about trying to squeeze 50 odd more Bhp out of an old engine. Your going to have to change a lot of stuff, and remember if it goes bang you wont be long throwing 4-5k into it to do a proper job, sure you will get a way cheaper patching it up but to do it right costs money
