Thanks for the reply's lads but no luck with any of the options suggested. No luck on ebay or with the main dealer. None to be got from subaru japan either.

ebay there are gaiters but I guess these are off no use to you

you need to buy the entire shaft according to a lad here maybe http://www.boards.ie/vbulletin/showthread.php?p=63166974

no luck scoobycolm, the part no you have is for the 4wd vivio from 92 to 95. mine is a 98 fwd. Subaru said none to be got even in japan.
