Does going down through the gears use fuel?

Do you use your gears to slow or coast up to a juncton?

Everyone is basing there argument/ questions on the presumption that when you drop a gear and have foot off throttle that the car holds a higher rev than idle because it gets more fuel.... its not, its your speed, momentum thats holding the revs up, you are only using idle amount of fuel whether the car is doing 2k or 4k revs once its engine braking....

Anyway all this is pointless, the suggested method of driving is not correct, not safe and a Fail in driving test.. end of.
