Hi folks

I am thinking of dipping my toe in the subaru world and have my eye on a 2005 forester xt. It has an issue with trying to get petrol into it and a light on dash related to it. Apparently its a solenoid in the engine bay.

Wanted to get opinion on this fault and if its common ? And a handy enough fix?

Any feedback out be great

Is it a 2.5 . Wouldn’t say it’s a common issue with them
Yea its a 2.5, pump keeps clicking trying to get fuel it it seems. Only thing owner is reporting wrong with it, read a few places there is a solenoid located behind the tank and you have to take whole rear end off to get at it to replace.

Never heard of it before . It’s usually the pump goes bad or gives up so no fuel . If you turn the ignition on you should hear the pump prime .
I take it’s not starting and running then

No running fine, just takes about 30 mins to get fuel in the tank

Rear drivers wheel well is where the filler neck is Check someone hasn’t blocked off 1 of the pipes as the filler neck usually is corroded and usually needs replacing but there is also a no return valve in there that could be blocked .
should a simple fix if that’s all that’s wrong
