2004 Wrx Rear Arch Rust

Hi,

I have recently purchased a 2004 impreza wrx that is in need of a bit of work. Mainly the rear arches. There was a poor attempt done before at repairing rust which has just covered over the issue. I have gotten replacement outer arches and plan on cutting out the steel and welding in the new arches. I was just wondering if anybody had attempted this before. I would have a fair bit of experience on body work but this is a pretty difficult project. I was also wondering if anybody knows if it is possible to buy any replacement panels for the inner arches as that is the worst area and will need a fair bit to be cut out and replaced.

I'm fairly sure you could buy the replacement arch things but as far as I recall they were coming from USA (the ones I seen)so postage and customs could be tough...
Stick up a few pics of the area when you get a chance, some lads might know if its repairable

Cheers for the reply. I’ll take some photos later and put them up. Can you remember what site you saw the ones from the US?

I actually see one on ebay.ie here

Don't just take my word on this here now, some of the guys will be along shortly and give a better opinion on this area, never been in a position where I even considered this so I'm not really of any help here lol Screenshot_20210206-141202_Chrome.jpg

Here are some pics of the areas and the poor repair on the outer arch

Nope this was on a uk reg. It’s driving 100% and everything else is in good condition except for the rear arches
Ahh okay, saw that you said 04 there. My bad.

You have a lot of work to do if you want to repair this one though which equals money.

Welcome along 👍. As has being posted by eoin . Outer repair panels are common enough and easily got Not sure there’s many making inners . So you might have to fabricate them or go to a breaker and and buy the cuts you want off a shell he has as You will same it in time . 👍 👍
Best of luck with the project and keep us updated

Welcome to the club, Unsure where you are located but Kilcock car dismantlers currently have a Hawkeye Sti Shell with front end damage which may be suitable for cuts.

Others will advise best if N/A models are suitable for cuts also.

Good opportunity to set your own standard for work this time and protect for future.

Thanks for the info lads. I will be sure to check out your suggestions and I’ll post some updates as the project goes along 👍
