Reverse bulb not working

Hey everyone. Just noticed the other day that the reverse bulb is not working. I drive legacy BP5 estate Auto. I changed out the bulb and that didn't work. I checked the fuse and also not the issue. Is there some switch that sends the power down once you put it into R in the Auto box that might be the issue? Thanks for all the help. I also checked the cabling in the rubber between the boot and the car as i read that sometimes this is the issue.

I?d say it might be a micro switch on the shifter and not actually on the gearbox.
Check the bulb holder aswell , there might be power there when in reverse just corrosion on the terminals and might just need a clean

Thanks again. I'll check the terminals again. Not sure about the microswitch or where that might be located?

Chances are with an auto it will be under the shifter.
As Barry said, check to see have you power at the bulb holder is you first job. Check both ways, live and earth.

Yes will double check the power at the terminal. Would this switch be located at the gear stick from the car itself or from underneath?

No 9 but I?d check the bulb holder first , have you done that yet?

Hey thanks. Car is down with Ciaran Larking bits done. Going to let him have a look at it. He did mention switch under the gearstick. See what comes of that. Will keep posted here so know the outcome. Thanks for all the great advice.

Bigger problems will post back here once fixed. Check wanted section for what happened this morning. Sorry guys

Hey everyone. so there is no power at the bulb itself so suspect something is stopping power going to switch. Trying to see where the reverse light switch is located on my car is very hard. The one posted above is not for my car and a different model unfortunately.

Its not hard at all man , It?s going to be in the general area of the shifter , underneath the shifter or on the gearbox itself.
If you cannot do a diy job can I suggest giving it to a Subaru Specialist like Rsr or Larkin Automotive.

Car is with Ciaran larkin at the moment and gave me the info that there's no power back there :icon_sad:

Ciaran got around to looking at this this week. Turned out there was a break in the cable around the boot door from the cabin itself. Fixed now and luckily no issue with the switch itself.
