Problem with volume on laptop. Please help.

My dads laptop is acting the maggot and I have checked everything I know.

The volume does not work when playing a dvd in it but works when on the net with you tube and the likes.

I have checked in the volume mixer settings and all volume controls are up and not on mute.

Anyone know what is the problem here.

id say it is the volume control in what ever software you are using to play the dvd in
either it is turned down to the minimum or its is selected to be muted
dry and play the dvd with a different software than the one you are using that will tell you

Tried that Colm. Used windows player and realplayer both same results.

Checked googling it and was suggested to smash it of the wall so going to try that next.

you could need a codex for windows media player..try downloading http://www.videolan.org/vlc/ this will replace windows media player

vlc is a great player also
