Lads,

Just been trawling throught the net looking for my next scooby which by the way is going to be a bugeye STI :subaru: I was looking at a lovely immac 2001 STI wagon but was slightly put off when the seller told me it didnt have brembos, further research showed me none of the 2001 STI's had em ( Dont know why but if somebody would like to tell me )

I have since spotted a few cars on the autotrader that I really like both are STI saloons

Anyway have a few questions that I need answered.

Whats the difference between a JDM STI and a UK SPEC STI?

Do both have the same goodies? ie.. Xenon lights, 6 speed gearbox, DCCD, I/C spray

Is there a power difference between the cars?

Will I still need to remap a UK SPEC for 95 RON fuel

Will the VRT on a UK SPEC be more than a JDM?

The UK SPEC has a full subaru service history whereas the JDM doesnt. As this is gonna have to last me for a while I wanna get something that I'm gonna really enjoy and be 100% reliable too.

Finally what has the the type R bugeye got that the rest dont have?

you wont need a remap, do any Scoobies have xenons as standard??

The UK didn't get an official STi until MY02 (late 2001), they were different to Jap STi's in that they were set up for UK conditions (fuel, roads, mph clocks, etc.). Other differences would have been more significant in the Limited Editions.

There's no such thing as a Type R Bugeye.

Read our own guide on the Impreza for other tidbits...
