Identifying engine & turbo type?

How can you say that running out of power at 5-5500 won't be horrible? What would that be? A power band of 2-2.5k revs?? He might aswell buy a diesel passat.

The US vf39 runs a P15 housing if i recall on a 2.5. So be similar to vf35.

At 290-300bhp it would be a fast spooling turbo.

On a 2.5 a P18 or P20 housed turbo would be better.

A VF34 is the same as VF30 size wise. VF34 is roller bearing where as VF30 is journal.

Imo nothing at all wrong with a VF22, VF23 (some had p20 housings) VF30, VF34, VF43 or VF48.

A VF28 will be fine if spend 90% of time on country roads. Nice quick pick. It depends budget. Planned usage and location of car etc.

That paragraph alone makes me think I should stick with what I have for the time being. It does spend most of its time on country roads, with gears being changed by 5.5k revs (doesn't take long to reach licence-losing speeds) and there is decent response out of it even at the reduced boost pressure.

Think I'll focus on other things first :)
