i7 v i5 core processors

narked

Petrolheads
gettin a new laptop but one has 2Ghz i7 an the other has i5 2.67Ghz....

which is better, both have 6gb ddr ram :dontknow:

any suggestions?

if there is not much in the price, the i7 be the one to go for, depends on your laptop needs, it will help with gaming and multi tasking etc but i7 core will probably use more power over i5

and processor is only difference? personally i would go with the i7, but depending on what your using the laptop for you might not notice the difference if just browsing web and watching movies i5 might be fine

you can put windows on a MAC :)

If its a work laptop, and they are paying for it. go for the i7, stick in a ssd drive and some more ram

as Dan said windows can go on a mac
save yourself buying one further down the line
once you go Mac you never go back :geek:

In general, the Intel Core i7 can boost up to about 2.9 Ghz. My Dell has a 1.73 Ghz but boosts up to 2.9 when needed. But in general it is sitting at 2-2.5Ghz, so don't let the Ghz put you off. The i7 is the one to go for in my opinion mate!!

Also, most places will take the 6GB Ram out and throw in a 8GB for little or nothing because they will keep the 2 boards that make up your 6GB
