Could be any number of things lad, more than likely just riddled with crap, viruses, spyware etc... Do a virus scan with some decent software and let me know what it turns up

Hey Steve, do you fix computers as your dayjob?
[/quote]

Yup I run a computer repair shop in Dunboyne with my dad and also work full time for an I.T company as a Repair Administrator

@Neil, I use Kaspersky Anti-Virus, its not free but is the business. If your looking for free I'd go for AVG, but I don't really like it, it'll do the job ok but is just too in your face IMO.

hi steve, everthing was grand until i upgraded 2 new avg 9
so i got rid an got avast on now, pc runs perfect when its on
its just gettin da fookin thing on dats da prob, dell ran a scan
an just found 2 many programs starting at once so turned em off

i find avast free edition works well, it will run more or less in the background and talk to you when it gets updates online( which scares me sometimes!) where abouts are you based carlee. If your around Dublin i could have a look for you, probably just needs some TLC.

1. anti virus Can be downloaded from here:

http://files.avast.com/iavs4pro/setupeng.exe

2. Run start---> all programs ---> accessories ---> system tools ---> disk cleanup( to get rid of crap on your hard drive)

3. Run start---> all programs ---> accessories ---> system tools ---> disk defragmenter(organises files together on your hard drive so it can search quicker)

4. Run start---> all programs ---> windows update

Them few things should sort most issues
