any Renault mechanics on the forum?

Ave a problem with my other half's Renault scenic. It's showing an error message steering locked or steering not locked. Car won't start. Anyone any ideas?

Key card issue? Haven't seen it before but you would have to plug in diagnostics and see is card recognised.
Have you second key to try?

Yes tried that. And had our mechanic try it on diagnostic but it couldn't connect. Looks like it's the electronic steering lock

I've seen that exact problem on Passat, electronic lock on steering column goes but wouldn't do too many renaults.
In the Passat they are coded to the key, if you haven't a way to code them in you can remove the mechanical part of the lock and swap on your original coded electronics. But it's the mechanical part that goes in the vw not sure bout yours.
