Subaru have confirmed they will actually sell WRX in Europe in Limited Numbers alongside the STI but still no word on them even considering a Saloon WRX & STI.

The good news is that they have already commissioned a new grill to replace that boring grill on the US model. In the US there are already body kits available through Subaru dealers with side sill extensions, front lip spoilers and high rear deck spoilers and 18 inch wheels which make it look eh.... almost ok. The only way to save the new Impreza is a full blooded Saloon STI and the sooner Subaru wise up and finally listen to its ever loyal customers the better. Maybe when they see sales of the Dark Side X flying off the forecourts in the US they might decide the introduce a saloon eh sorry a sedan STI

Frawls

thats good new Frawls. the way i see it is that Subaru Impreza's are bought by people who know what they are, and are buying them because they love them for more than just a fast car, they love them because of the heritage as well as looks and performance, how many people do you know that bought an Impreza on random as they were shopping for cars, no one! people buy them because they know what they are, a high performance road rally car that looks as sexy as it feels! i believe that Subaru are trying to appeal to the general market with this new Impreza, which in the end will cause them to loose the bulk of there Impreza sales because of this, speaking in terms of Wrx and Sti anyway. who knows, if sales in the general market boost there Impreza sales higher, we might never see a real Impreza ever again! just my opinion.

Subaru’s ground breaking Boxer Turbo Diesel motor will go on sale in Europe early next year
.
The engine is the first production Boxer Turbo Diesel engine in the history of the car industry. Details of the motor were released at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which runs until later this month.

The compact diesel has similar dimensions to Subaru's equivalent petrol engines and is designed to fit into the engine bay of all of Subaru’s current and future models, linked to a symmetrical All-Wheel Drive transmission.

The horizontally opposed layout offers a sporty and compact engine. The power train retains Subaru's low centre of gravity to provide good handling and road holding. With its compact and rigid construction, there is no need for a balancer shaft to reduce vibrations.

The Boxer Turbo diesel is a two litre engine producing 110 kWs with good high revs throttle response. But more importantly it has a stump pulling 350 Nm of torque at low revs for strong pulling power. The Boxer Turbo Diesel has very low noise levels.

And to meet current and future environment regulations it has a CO2 emissions level of 150 g/km.

All initial production of the Boxer Turbo Diesel will go to Europe where, diesel powered cars make up 50 percent of the total market.

Subaru is looking to the Boxer Turbo Diesel to boost its sales in the northern hemisphere.

The Subaru New Zealand website has word of RHD Impreza "sedans" being available there next year, though it doesn't specify in which versions. So fingers crossed!

From SubaruNews.net:

Subaru is set to delight its performance fans with not only the surprise addition of a WRX model to the new Impreza range but at a highly competitive price. Available from November, the new Subaru Impreza 2.5 WRX turbo will cost a remarkable £19,995 on-the-road – a full £1,102 less than the previous model.

The new 230 PS Impreza WRX – which was originally not planned for Europe – will be available in limited numbers prior to the range-topping WRX STI going on sale in spring 2008. Meanwhile, the non-turbo range – featuring a new, roomier five-door body with new multi-link rear suspension – will enter dealer showrooms later this month starting at £12,495 for the 1.5R. All Imprezas have all-wheel drive, alloy wheels, climate-control air-conditioning, radio/CD player, height and reach steering-wheel adjustment, foglamps, front and rear electric windows, driver, passenger, side and curtain airbags plus vehicle information display.

The new WRX – which reaches 60 mph in 6.1 seconds – adds 17 ins alloy wheels, front and rear spoilers, side skirts, a rear bumper diffuser, leather-covered steering-wheel and gear-knob, a rear limited-slip-differential with Subaru Vehicle Dynamics Control, 10-speaker, six-disc radio/CD player and xenon headlamps.
