After some debate over this, I've decided I need to sell my motor
The car needs a bit of work and I can;t justify getting my 7th top up loan to do this, I just need to sell it and try pay off the rest of the loan before I start a new project.
Story is as follows:
I bought it in Dec 06 for 25k. It is a UK import and a type UK model, ehich just means it has a alarm and imobilser and the water tank spray is in the boot, apart from that I don;t know if any differences.
It has 61000 miles on it at the moment.
It is supposed to have 265hp but when I had it measured last year it only came in at 251hp and 268lb/ft, 3lb/ft above what it should be. Its boosting to 1.4bar at 4k revs.
A few months after buying it I started to get a few issues and a few poor months of sales didn;t give me enough to get them fixed as they happened.
To date the list of problems is:
- Knocking noise from the front wheels which is more than likely the wheel bearings
- Brakes are spongey, air or something?
- Whining noise from the rear, I smacked the rear on a roundabout, got a new wheel and wheel bearing but the noise remained, must be the rear diff or a drive shaft
- The engine needs replacing, all cylinders are low on compression, very bad when cold but runs fine when hot
- The exterior recently got keyed twice down the entire length of the left side, head light to tail light
- Rear right shock needs to be "regreased", don;t understand it myself but thats waht Subaru said
The interior is spotless, not a mark, I bought new genuine STI mats last year also
The gearbox is perfect

I've been looking at the costs for fixing it in case I can;t sell it and came up with this so far
New engine supplied and fitted by STI tuning approx 3500, thats 2.5 with forged CP pistons and should do 400hp, there would be extras like gaskets and head bolts on top and any other customisation you might want to do
Whiteline F+R Roll bars, drop links, F+R strut braces and F+R springs, all from Jomo for a grand, fit it yourself, it would be a doddle
Spray the keyed side, less than 500 from a ex-Merc panel beater I know, but I would get a high rise spoiler and front splitter aswell and just respray the entire thing if I have to do it
Rear diff, don;t know? Hopefully its just new seals and they can be fixed
I reckon if you put 6 or 7 grand into it you would have a savage bug for 18/19 grand.
I'm hoping someone here would be up to the project, if not I'll end up fixing it myself and spending another 10 grand ( the extra is to get 400hp, couldn;t do a new engine without beefing it up myself, its a problem I have!! )
