I have had mine off and got boot lid redone on the wing I stripped off all the old sponge and when put it back on i used 3 mm window gasket the sponge wares out and wing starts vibrating hence damaging boot lid aswell get the rubber discs that go on wing to stop water leaking into boot as I do get a small drip sometimes hopefully this helps

They where on the underside of wing to seal to boot lid when tightened down to stop water leaking through holes I would say the rusty water mark would nearly buff out on a lot of it

A fallout remover/IronX and decent clay bar will remove the rust marks from the paint work Keith. No need to be too abrasive.
