Hey lads.
Got the timing belt do on the forester about 3 week ago at my uncles garage and the lad doing it said everything was fine but he mentioned that there was a lot of pressure in the top radiator hose, he said he had a good look around and everything was doing what it should, i was a bit worried/pissed of only done about 1000km since I bought the car in December. Did a bit a google as you do but it’s nothing seem to come up about the 2.0 having head gasket trouble (which I’m obviously wrong) So was driving to Galway last week and happened to look down at the temp gauge and it was up at the red. So pulled in straight away had a look at all the usual things and all ok. Let it cool down and check for water and what you know no water so filled up with what I had (a 1.5 liter bottle for drinking) and made for home. It would get hot and I’d let it cool down and eventually got home. Had to change cars and head for Galway again. So I resume the head gasket is gone. Got home that evening and filled and blead with water and gave it a bit of a drive. It drove perfect but when I got back home there was steam coming from the right head. I presume it gone? Could I be missing something? On ya there is a fairly new radiator in the car since before I bought it.
Any advise would be great. if it’s gone probably won’t go to the hassle of doing the heads have too many other project going on at the moment, would probably try and sell it if so.
