What is this for on my legacy

What's the reason for this guys the bar at the bottom of the door and the slot in the chassis ,is it some sort of stiffer to make the body more ridged ?

As above side impact protection bar stops the door folding in on you from side impacts :thumbsup:
 
Thanks a million lads that has baffled me for months ,only thing is why not put them on the front too.

First-is that the original colour on your car? It looks like a pearly, metallic orange colour in pics?
Anyways , it's sometimes referred to a a "nader pin"

It's connected to a reinforcement bar in the door.as the doors are frameless I guess they were weak in a side impact or rear impact.
 
The blitzen colour is beautiful in person, but it's real hard to capture on camera lol
90% of my pics look that same kinda metallic orange lol
 
It's a strange one.ive seen a blitzen wagaon and it looked like a straight red.fair enough I was a bit away from it....
