Re-shell documentation

Does anyone know what the story is if you re-shell a car can you keep the original reg of the original shell or do you have to re register and vrt the new shell?

Whatever shell you are using that will come with a registration and chassis number will match. So if you are transfering say your running gear into the new shell whatever reg is present with that shell you have to keep. Not like England where you can choose to keep the plate
 
Cut off the old chassis number and weld them into the new shell. Fresh paint and you are ready to go lol. Did l just said that?? Nooo l never said that ;)
 
Like prodrive and all the "orgnial" rally cars ????????????
