Welcome along pal.
That is a beautiful car.lovely in black.good job on cleaning her up.
I'm partial to the leggy wagons.....
Re the mapping, just had mine done.i feel safer driving it now,not tiddling around off boost
When I got mine in,it had half a tank of Jap juice still in her,and took me,she was like a scalded cat at the lights.when I changed to the Irish piss, the difference was very noticeable, drop in power, nowhere as quick.
The remap got her back to factory output and a few extra torques...
It smoother.i asked about octane booster and he recommended using it,it will damage the cat- eventually- but we're talking after maybe 50-60000 miles.
The way I see it(and I could be very wrong here) is use octane, get it remapped, use octane.
It was explained to me that the ECU programming from factory is "lazy" and it can through in extra degrees of timing, randomly, then coupled with the standard knock sensor, rides the "knock" wave....
Now the above is all black voodoo magic to me,and while this was being explained to me,I was nodding, and saying "ahhaha, ahhaha, yeah, mmhummmm,ah yes I see" trying desperately to not look like a ****ing thick shite(I don't think that worked,in fairness)
The place was covered in fully restored 2 door sierra cosworths, 69 mustangs, mk. 1 escorts with s2000 engine transplant and full running gear and suspension,71 porches etc etc.and he was showing me videos off him blitzing around mondello in his door coupe, and pics of him standing beside the LeMans team he built a car for..........
Anyways going from what I've garnered,it's good to have them remapped.
