Cost effective way of mapping version 4 wrx (S8 ECU)

Sunday Drivers
how are people mapping version 4's these days?
all sites and feedback im getting prices ranging from 700-1000
anyone recommend somewhere small bit less pricey wasnt expecting to pass 500 hopefully
whats everyone with version 4's doing?

you have to get a esl board in them
id say thats the extra cost
the only other option is deare like simtec
the original ecu cant be written to and needs a daughter board iirc

these bad boys
so thats your extra cost unfortunately
bye a second hand ecu with one un it would be your cheapest alternative

yeah that looks perfect any idea of anyone in ireland who can work with these ?

Esl is your only option really

Alcatek cost me nearly €1400 mapped

big investment say its well worth it mapped cars are different breed of cars altogether. any idea of anyone who works with esl ?

Your options are ESL or Alcatek.

ESL prices in sterling as per their site.

Board £295+V= £354.00

Board Install £30+V = £36.

Racedynamix Mapping £350.00

So thats £740gbp fitted and mapped. (As of today approx €975.00 area)

Options

Motorsport board upgrade £100+V = £120.00 (€160.00)

Plus switches. Wiring. Etc approx €100.00

So adds up.

Alcatek suplied fitted and mapped on v3/4. Is €1320.00

Air Temp Sensor €25.00

Motorsport anti lag/launch upgrade €175.00

Switches supply wire and install €100.00

You could go Apexi. Although old technology now. And you retain your maf. Which are expensive new if fails. So would eat up any savings.

Say got second hand unit about €300.00

Map £350.00/€475.00

So total €775.00

But would not advise this road nowadays.

Re second hand alcatek. No saving really if ecu running old software and need get it updated anyway.

from what ive been reading about the esl it seems to offer great features and has great reviews on any site ive had a look on

not cheap however worth having fuel pump and new plugs and other few small bits to get the most out of it and have the car running as well as possible

thanks for the info waiting for an audi i have to sell so hope have enough change left over after buyin a runaround to get all parts and map done in one go

From what Dave was saying I would go for the alcatek considering there is only about 200 euro in the difference after mapping etc and you are getting a better unit
