Was looking to do this with the wr1,I put it up on wr1 owners club had a good few intrested but they never bothered I just don't think they want to travel and I was even paying for the boat home if it sold.

You can claim if vrt was originally paid, ie Japan/UK.
Make an appointment to get a vrt rebate inspection with the nct test center.
Transaction in the UK has to be processed within 30 days, and 3-4 weeks later you get your rebate.

Not sure what the process is at the sellers end, but the buyer MOT's the car using the chassis number, once it's MOT'd, the buyer sends away a form and the Irish log book with the MOT cert and a fee of £80, in a couple of weeks it comes back with a UK logbook with its new UK/NI registration and all you do then is tax it. Not sure of how to claim VRT back as it's never been a thing that applied to me.
