As above looking to see if anyone knows of any place that provides this service the under body of the spec has some surface rust I want to get at this asap and nip it in the bud
The spec c never came with underseal from factory so it's not ideal for our roads and sh1t wet weather
So I'm looking for any information I don't want to use Shultz as I have heard nothing but bad things about it.
Needs clean rust convention or treatment then underseal
Also something like waxoil pumped into the gaps and panels
Any information on where you got it done and if you would recommend them or what stuff is best to use would be greatly appreciated
Cheers
Keith

As far as I know they are using Shultz and just spraying over everything I'm looking to treat the metal and convert the rust using a rust convert then underseal
Maybe drop the subframes and get them painted

Does ciaran not do it keith ?

alternatively give Mick Stapleton a ring (id do this first) see who he supplies (meguiars trade distributor) as he does good stuff so most know everyone doing it http://www.mjsdistribution.com/content.php?page=rusco_shop

The thing is.

Without stripping absolutely everything down leaving just the floor.

People are just spraying over everything as said.

And thats gonna be time. Hours wise to do it the way should be.

Looks absolute shite otherwise.

I agree with dave without a full strip down its a terrible looking sight and not very effective

In my opinion

Would do say when clutch is slipping. And box has to come out anyway. Dent the labour time would have been doing anyway.

So box out.

Prop etc.

Then drop whole rear subframe down complete incl rear shocks etc.

Hard to estimate a time duration start to finish.

If would like a detailed quote would have no issue doing. Would need drop up in advance and go through it whilst on ramp

Hard to see here. But this is whole subframe drop from the shell swap car.

So full rear subframe down with diff. Link arms, abs sensors, trailing arms etc etc

If you start going further into that.

i.e full pollybush. Strip down. Powder coat all subframes and arms etc.

Thats time and dollars

Very hard to know where to stop really . having the floor pan spotless be a shame to bolt back on rusty subframe and other parts So it's a hard call really. Looking at a month or so off the road and lots of hours but worth it . The legacy with be getting this treatment in the new year , before the body work and spray job so it's sorted for a good few years

Was the White Sti at Terenure done
Was part of a full shell rebuild though

The white type r was ciaran larkins car yea he did a full job on his top to bottom
Thanks for that Dave
I agree bolting on rusty parts won't look good but ay you sat where do you stop
It's the shell I'm really looking to protect as it has zero protection on it at the minute.
No point doing a half assed job and I believe that Shultz stuff is nasty stuff
Thanks for information pics and suggestion keep them coming
Few lads in the UK set up for this sort of thing but the hassle of vetting it over and back
I don't even know what it would cost I have a few quid put by for it as I knew it needed to be done but it's just hard to find a place and a price, I couldent leave it in to a place if I didn't know what it was going to cost or ball park what it was to cost

The Shultz is not a bad product.

Its when its appiled in a manner of throw on.

There is others that come in white and suit your needs best.

Price wise i personally would think be approx €850

Wanted to do this to the P1, but never had free time with new born arrived on the scene

Priced it up for poly bushes and powder coating and re-zinc bolts was near 1k

And that didn't include new shocks or Springs.

my mate in England was doing this for 2k,all inclusive

What would you think of clear cavity wax? If the car is clean and local rust spots treated then apply a layer of wax over everything. This will protect
the undersides from the dreaded salt .
Regarding shultz I've seen it flake off after a period to reveal ugly rust underneath.
Gravitex anti chip would be better and is over paintable as an option.
