engine and loom straight swap classic

Sunday Drivers
so ive been told that if i put a newer engine into the car it will require a new loom and ecu but that if i get a classic shape 99 for example i can then have the ecu remapped. my question is id the loom a straight swap ie would all the connectors match up inside the car

Not gonna do this this side of winter but trying to plan if its worth putting money into an old car or going up a model

May have to change loom behind the dash and possible the dash unless u know your stuff with wiring. The connections for injector looms vary. If u can keep your own inlet mani u wont have to change looms. Watch that bolts holding manifold to heads line up. Some are in line and some are stagerd

Id say someone on here knows more and can help abit more

Ya u could go down that route. Would u have to measure displacement in new block and old head to get right compression ratio?
