Driving a moped in Ireland

So does anybody know how to go about this these days. My girlfriend was looking to get a moped(50cc) to get her to her new job as its probably the cheapest option. She currently has a Brazilian full license and motorbike covered up to 250cc but thats not recognised over here so its a fresh start for her license wise i guess. Can you just get a learner permit for AM category and jump on the scooter, or do you need to complete the IBT training etc same as if it were a motorbike etc.

Can you not drive a 50cc on a normal car licence ?

You have to do the training I think. I have the card licence and all I'm allowed is the car and tractor.

She needs provisional, ibt, full licence.
She may be insured before she has ibt depending on insurer

Can't you get any thing ie a 300 cc maxi scooter once it's restricted? ?
