Prices on that site are nuts and are not reflected of the market here Johnny . Your car is only worth what someone is willing to pay the day it’s for sale

Oh I agree Joe, but you have to remember aswell Ireland got a sh*t load of type Rs in from Japan and the rest Europe just didn't and with that car been a left hooker and in some country's you can't insure rhd cars very easy, I think that's why that lhd type r is stupid money

I would have thought Johnny that the left hand drive conversion would adversely effect the value of the car not increase it, ? Imo they should have kept it rhd

I agree that Ireland imported a lot of type r compared to other countries so hopefully good prices ahead for us????

most of the type r in eastern euro are ex irish cars
most of evos over there also ex irish

exported during the bad days

Madness! I’ve a clean silver type R needs a donkey again
After a “specialist” up north built and mapped it!! A few years ago.

2.5 with motec ecu.

Just had full under body restoration to keep it safe.

13k seems a bit much on a risk..

I Wouldn't give 6 for it. With that milage it was bought for between 2-3k standing him 5-6 and looking for 13 . Fair play to him if he gets .

Joe, what’s a non rust bucket 2 door type R worth??
I’m am by no means trying to “call you out” on price.

You know me :)

I’d respect your opinion and many in the club who know the classic jap 2
Doors.

No witch hunt intended!!! Opinions wanted with no abuse etc...

Call it please.

Want opinions.

Plus I’d love one of ye to view the car before we do a new engine build.

I’m not shy!! All opinions welcome thank you.

Hurting my feelings does not exist!

Want truth.

why would you want to sell now. wait until the are available to the yanks then the price will sky rocket. Joe was asking 5k last year for his. Dieseltom also sold one last year. the good ones well pass the 10k mark at this stage. Market is gone mad. every one is asking whatever they want but most adds are on DD forever. I had idea to sell my widetrack and get gen 1 legacy but turns out I have to do a straight swap and the question is, is it worth it? Dave sold his jap bug sti and I would be curious to know what he got.

The 6k comment was at aimed at the 13k 4 door sti

@grahmo what year is the type r ? is it Irish reg? and it Needs an engine ? And I'll give you an honest price .

Theres a huge differance in the prices lads think there there cars are worth and what the market or lads that really want 1 think there worth .

There's a blue 97 type r on donedeal with nct fresh new belt , Discs and pads , new tyres ,for 8990 needs a bit of paint I haven't seen the car so I don't know what it's like but at that price if it's clean it's a bargain .

Vrt alone is 3k that leaves the car at 6k

Everything comes down to if you really want 1 or not . Loads of lads looking for a mint type r and have 8-12k for a car that's worth 15-20k will keep it for A year and ask 20 for it .

Everyone seem to be jumping on the bandwagon recently and sticking up cars for crazy money and they don't seem to be selling .
You can buy a very good car for 10k in any make

That blue type r for 9 grand has been sitting in a shed for 8 years, it's dash is in sh*t and the steering wheel in a bad way, it also says that it on new Tyres but if you look at it on DD there the cheapest of the cheap sh*t rubber. It is also a v3 with a v5/6 front bumper, It's 9 grand at best imo.

If you want a figure for your type r Graham pm me some spec and I'll give you an honest figure.

If the dash is a bit faded and the steering wheel seen better days is the only thing that's wrong with it it's still a cheap car I'm my opinion .

Would he get get extra money if there were Michelin pilot 4 on it ?

Well my type r is a v4 v limited , full engine rebuild, esl daughterboard and remap etc, 10 k done on rebuilt engine, body condition is ok, needs another professional respray if I'm being honest , needs a front bumper or lip kit but other than that not bad, interior is flocked and not to everyone's liking I know , will probably advertise it for sale in New year so I was thinking 11-12 k , thoughts people?

Now I honestly believe when the American market opens up after 25 year old rule prices will increase,

Also don't know if anyone saw the p1 on pistonheads for sale for 40 k sterling, the rise in prices for p1 will have knock on effect for type r,s

I think myself that the only big money Type r cars are the V5 and v6 blue cars with the roof hatch. The v6 being a limited number build will fetch more... then you have your white, grey, silver and blacks I think they are all going to sit around 10-12k unless you are really smart and buy a yellow v3 2dr... they are going to be worth a bit more.... after having them, I personally have no interest In the earlier type r, so V5 and v6 for me.

It’s probably at a stage now with the Type r where getting it all in one package is impossible, so my focus would be a Good basis, no rust or heavy crash damage... note how I say “Heavy crash damage” it’s going to be next to impossible to get one that hasn’t had some kind of a squeeze at some point...

IMO it doesn’t matter whether you buy in Ireland, Uk, buy grade R, 3.5 or 4 from Japan... you will always drop around at least 2k into them between servicing, timing belts, clutch, touch ups, tyres, etc etc

The only problem I can see now is the parts starting to dry up on the Type r cars, 1/4 panels, doors, window trims etc etc are all problems to get now, do they are inevitably turning from an everyday car to a car you might have to mind a bit more
