dpf delete and nct

So got my dpf cleaned about 4 months ago along with 6 new glow plugs and the glow plug sensor which what was causing the dpf to block up.

Well this morning the dpf warning came back up. Was thinking about getting a new one but was recommended to get it cut out, blanked and remapped.

The last time I was looking at options when the warning light went off I came across a site that said that there is a new regulation for the nct that you need a dpf for emissions and if not you will fail. Anyone ever heard of that or put a car through recently without a dpf ?

The car is a 535d

Did you try taking it for a steady cruise on motorway or that to get the DPF to regenerate????
You may need to go for a spin at a steady speed on the cruise to give her a chance, keep the revs constant to give it the heat it needs, say 110kmph for 15 20 minutes "should" be enough...???

There's additive from the likes of Wynn's that can help clear the DPF.
Normally a good drive with constant revs over 2500rpm for about 20 minutes does the trick to do the regeneration, but once the light comes on it can be quite clogged and might not do a normal regeneration cycle. The additive (Wynn and Wurz seem the best) can really help and then take her for a good spin for at least 30 minutes plus. If she's an auto keep it in manual override to select a lower gear to keep the revs in the 2500-3000 range. Needs to be a drive as there needs to be a load on the engine to get boost to build to raise EGTs. Good luck, let us know how you get on (might need to get fault code reset, not sure on your model).

Get the dpf cleared of the internal membrane and get mapped. Filter housing is still there so looks as if dpf still present. Dpf warning still goes on/off as normal on dash. Did it with my mazda6 and was spot on

Got in touch with the crowd that cleaned it before and they said they will come out wednesday to have a look at it and hopefully sort it. I will try the regenerate on the motorway tomorrow going to work.

Will let yous know how I get on

Had dpf delete on a subaru diesel and passed nct ok.
Sohan s of trim.

i reckon in the future the dpf will be needed for nct's, maybe they won't backdate to euro3, who knows. does make a good differnce on the 535d having it gone. how was the dpf cleaned last time? it also needs to be in the right state before it will regen ie. oil temp, coolant temp, fuel temp, fuel level etc etc to be in the right zone, also issues which you might not associate with it can be an issue, rad fan, thermostats etc can have knock on effects for regens.

It may not be the DPF Filter at all, it could be the deferential pressure sensor.

Would that cause the dpf to show up.

Last time I got it cleaned I was recommended I got 6 new glow plugs as they were reading too high. Brought it down to the specialist I go to, changed the glow plugs and he noticed my glow plug sensor was gone. He said thats what was causing the dpf to clog up. Changed the sensor as well.

I have the company that cleaned it coming out to my work tomorrow to have a look at it and to see can they sort it out. If not I am getting the dpf taking out, egr blanked and getting joe power to map her

It gets to be a case where it ends up being a process of elimination... And that's not good for pocket..

I had issues with a Hyundai Jeep, sometimes a very rough idle, funny hot metal smell, going into a kind of limp mode for 10-20secs then perfect... Never through up a fault or code...

Egr was replaced but made no difference, just by chance we checked the DPF pressure through Ecu and then hooked up a mechanical pressure gauge to DPF ... And the readings were completely different... So it was more than likely the Pressure sensor which iirc were €240 at the time... But you could fit the sensor and then it would turn out DPF was gone aswell... So I opted to take it out and load up new software... Has never looked back, and went through an NCT about 1 year ago..

Just to ad , the guy that did mine is at them a lot, and he said problem is even if you buy a new DPF there is no guarantee within a few months that it doesn't kick up aswell, that it's down to the use the car gets, so I presume cleaning them is the same thing.

Surely at this stage with diesels being nothing but hassle in most cases from costing wise. Turbos, injectors etc etc.

In a 5 series prob be just cheaper run a 530i petrol

I agree with you dave diesel is too expensive to run with the way they are gone with euro 5 and 6 emissions don't forget lads when euro 6.5 and 7 come cars will by law have to run ad blue like trucks that's another expense on owners. In my opinion unless you do over 15,000 miles a year a diesel is pointless

Ya , not far off that dpf will be needed for nct and mot, I wouldn't get rid yet,

Turns out the faults were never reset when the glow plugs were changed. The dpf light has now gone off.

I do 700-900kms a week so a 530i would be out of the question on juice alone. The distance I do was the only reason I went diesel. If I lived fairly close to work I would be driving an m5 now instead of the 535d

Between dual mass flywheels, DPF, injectors, injector pumps, egr's, turbos, etc etc... There is nothing too reliable about the reliable diesel anymore
