I'm sure loads of ye have setup camera's . I know nothing about them but want to set one up at my parents house. Anyone any advice on setting one up. I have been looking on the interweb and power over ethernet ip seems to be the way to go. Has anyone any recommendations.

Thanks

I bought a system similar to the one above from a private company. Would highly recommend them. May be expensive but they are worth it.

I have an iMac and TV in the office. I run the cameras through the TV so it comes out on the PC output. Mine has night vision and it's easy to control.

I have a hicvision system in at home great job night vision is great
had that swann in the bike shop took it out and put in a different system

I find with cameras it's all about the night vision they all look great when it's bright dark is a different story
also if you need to zoom in on a face this is where the better cameras pay for themselves some just zoom to a blob not worth a fook if you want to find the b@stars and break him up with a bat.
2 houses beside me done yesterday the lad that did them walked up our drive but he seen the cameras and turned and walked out
I was blessed as I was dropping the kids to school 9.15 in the morning b@stards,got the car and bloke on cctv
so spend what you can afford done scrimp on cameras

i am in the market for a system as-well for work, but need one with good night camera's and remote login, will need 4-5 camera's.

dessie.. is that the same camera thats for sale in the pics of your house there. Whats the night vision like. Is it easy to set up. Have you to run cat 5 and power to the cameras

Keith is correct you do get what you pay for , however the deterrant is half the battle. Very easy to setup , you may need Dynamic DNS or Static IP address to view remotely depending on your provider, I have my router close to it so run Cat 5 directly from that, and you'll need at least 2 power outlets for DVR & Camera transformer. I have vga running to tv but want to route HD cable for clearer pic on tv

Mine is a swann Dvr, I connected the ones on store to test and the quality is compatible,

Keith what's your night vision like?

It's good at night yea and its on a motion sensor so only record's when there is movement so handy for play back not sifting through hours of video

Pic just now
have to clean the web off the side one lol

I picked up a Swann 4 channel 500gb DVR last week that Screwfix had on special. Got the first of the cameras fitted today. Really clear picture both still shot and recording. Happy enough so far but the real test will be how it does at night.

Yea Dave hicvision it's not great on your phone looking back or live view it's 80% but if you pull it up on your laptop it's very clear I'm gonna upgrade the front camera to something a bit better.
