Turning x5 or Range Rover Into crew cab

01- X5 qualify for crew cabbing. My mate only got his 02 signed off there last week. He work's in a garage and there getting most of there jeeps done, range rover sports, Q7's

Im sending my x5 in to get done at the end of the month. Not sure on reg's but rear seats are not moved. Rear side window's are tinted then carpeted up. They don not need to be paneled out. Also have a mate with a Range Rover HSE done no problem

Some difference in €1494 to €330. More money to spend on the Impreza

Most people I know with factory crew cab jeeps and vans, all use them for private use aswell snd they haven't had any problems with cops or revenue taking the thing???? I have heard of a women driving a comercial jeep with shopping in the back being stopped and brought to court but I don't know what happend... Maybe I'm wrong but I would think having insurance that covers for both business and pleasure use would be a big factor

I have been looking into this for months now and only as late as yesterday I was advised from an rsa man not to do it to the Q7 here
No 1 you have to have a vat number
No 2 you you have to have proof of 5 employees on your pay roll
No 3 you can not use your comerciall vehicle after 6 o clock or on Saturday or Sundays except if you can prove in full that you are working
No 4 you can not use it for privat use at all not for shopping for leasure to drop kids to school notting
No 5 it has to be insured as commercial

And to get them commercialised you have to sign a delco ratio to say you agree with all of the above
And it's there in black and white that if you breach any of the above
You will have to

No 1 change your vehicle back to privat
No 2 re vrt it privat
No 3 pay a hefty fine of up to €3000 euro
Plus your vehicle will be impounded and you will have to pay a holding fee
Until all paper work is in order

This is from a man very very high up in the rsa
And I for one will be paying the €1490 tax on the Q7 not to have them cnunts down my neck

It might not be worth the fukn hassle so... Nothing worse than coming onto a check point and having to worry if today is the day your luck runs out...
Any M3 I ever had needless to say the tax was scarce on it, and anywhere you would go it was on your mind or it would turn you off going on a long trip... So kind of defies the whole point of having it..

Some lads would take a chance because let's be honest tax is extortionate is this country.
Tipping around in it in dublin for example during work hours weekdays 9-6pm , very rare chance of been held up at a check point .
@tom God help ya between the q7 and the hatch but I agree at the same time , everything in order , less hassle

Yeah better safe than sorry plus NCT is €55 every 2 years and doe is €118 every year
Toll for privat is €1.90 toll for commercial is €3.20
I have enough tax the Scoob the q7 my owl Santa Fe commercial as my run around all the trucks our Kia sportage for the buisness could do with it the €333 instead of the €1490 but just not worth the bloody hastle and looking over your shoulder plus I have a big 6 birth caravan here kids love going to wear cork Clare Mayo Galway plases like that and how would ya answer why you have commercial tax with the caraven behind ya all the bikes on the roof
How ya guard, here is my keys good luck lol

Jesus Tom, with that amount of road tax every year.. I wouldn't be letting the water protesters know or they could hold you solely responsible for Irish water being set up ????

The old man done his 05 ML270 there a few days ago. Hes self employed and vat registered so ok on that side, and 99% the time hes driving its work related

Holy thread revival!

I knows it two years old but is anybody any the wiser two years on? Particularly on X5s?
Main dealers are now selling Business Editions of Tourags and X5s from new so cant be as scary a prospect as before?

its all stopped as far as im aware

there was crowd on naas road flat out importing 08 on x5 and vrt as crew cabs and sellin
all stopped a few months ago
mayby they since found a way around it but i doubt it

Ya crowd in Lusk sayin they can only convert X5 to 2 seater.

Whats people's opinions of 03-06 X5?

There are still a good few for sale on done deal €333 tax is sweet

I looked into this 2 years ago and as above vat numbers , employees etc they can only be driven during working hours and not for personal use . Dropping kids off to school would become a problem ...

On the other hand has any1 on here done it and had any problems ?
Would insurance be more expensive?

Surely couldn't be any worse than driving without tax as I am at the min ????
