Anyone know this Legacy??

That looks suspiciously cheap for what it advertise...
Ya it looks a bit cheap considering the year and the goodies on it!

At the same time the mileage is at 115,000 miles which is high. And according to the seller it has had no major engine work or turbo work in the time he has owned it (6 years).

How much is a rebuild gonna set me back worst case scenario?

It's a really nice looking car. It would be a shame if I had to rule it out.

Have seen this b4 around, always looked good

No sign of remap?
No remap, but that wouldn't be too expensive as far as I can see based on a little research I did today.

Rebuild will set you back min 2700/3000 up and the skys the limit after that

Haha ok thanks. That kinda rules that out unless I can find a mechanic to have a look at it.

Well i hope a mechanic would have a better idea than i would! If not, they're not a great mechanic. Obviously you cant see inside the engine, but hopefully there would be indications more noticeable to a mechanic than to myself.

Looks very well minded, and always loved those wheels too, personally i wouldn't buy it based on the milage but that's just me, if it did blow up down the line, id imagine you could make a nice bit of cash back off the goodies, but at the end of the day that's nt a nice thing to have to do.

What a silly statement.

Besides the normal things to look at when viewing a car and test drive etc.

How could mechanic know an engine bearing scored, or 3rd gear gonna sh*t itself in 5 months time etc

And all this on the ground in a car park most likely.

Dave you are by far the best source of advice and most educated person on the site when it comes to a subaru. How about we all stick to questions asked and avoid criticism its gone beyond a bit of a joke!

Lets start afresh!!! Communication 101

Site is about helping people when the ask for advice!

We should advise the lad what we would do or look out for when buying a leggy because if we all went by your mentality at the "minute" noone would buy a second hand subaru.

Hang on. I am answering with reality.

Abdolutely nothing wrong buying a second hand Subaru. But like any second hand car there are risks involved. Same as lot diesel cars for example. Lots of failures of turbos, injectors etc. Some owners encounter and some have total hassle free ownership.

But i think highlighting those risks gives the person asking the questions a more realistic answer of the pros and cons

Im not in disagreemet with you dont get me wrong. You have highlighted the joys of second hand motoring, a car with a full FSH could end up being more trouble than a car that has been tinkered now and then by joe bloggs down the road..... could be trouble free!! Nobody knows.

But voicing opinions on the site with opening statements like "What a silly statement" is not the way to do things! I see where you are comming from, can you see my point of view?

Point of view:
Me being an unregular user, pays my membership at the start of the year and uses the site for advice when needed.
