What's the best size/profile for 17" rims???

dont go with 225 jamie, they will rub if any weight is in the car

my track car runs 215s and still rubs on the fast corners around mondello, yes its low but i still had to roll the rear archs for no rubbing
 
had 205/40/17 too low too uncomfy hard to get new one for cheap.
now using 205/45/17 much more happy with them. more comfy.
 
I had 225 on and got arch rub when people in the back or load in boot
215/45/17 I find a nice fit
on a classic that is :thumbsup:
 
Just to resurrect this thread, the '97 Imp' I just bought has 205/50/16's (STi V3 wheels, the classic 5 spoke?) on and I'm considering firing Inovit Tarmacs (ET48 iirc) that're 215/45/17 and are the perfect size for the Legacy of the same generation. They're 2.3% bigger diameter according to an online tyre size calculator but do you knowledgeable folks think they'd rub? :dontknow:
