PROJECT 440BHP/440 LB FT

IN FOR A REFRESH AND FEW EXTRAS GOODIES

CAR IS FULLY FORGED BUILT WITH A 2.25L. AT THIS STAGE OF UPGRADE WE DECIDED TO CUSTOM PIN THE BLOCK. THIS AS FAR AS I'M AWARE IS A FIRST FOR AN IRISH COMPANY. ALL CNC MACHINE WORK AND PIN PRESSING AND DECKING AND OVERBORE HONING WAS FULLY CARRIED OUT IN IRELAND. YES IN IRELAND. BY IRISH BUSINESS AND STAFF. AND SOMETHING WE ARE VERY PROUD OFF.

AIM IS 450 BHP AFTER MAPPING WITH WATER METH ON. WITH 2.2 BLOCK WITH OVERSIZE BORE AND HONE AND BLOCK FACED. REBUILT USING SUBARU CRANKSHAFT, ACL RACE SERIES MAIN AND BIG END BEARINGS, EAGLE FORGED CONRODS WITH ARP BOLTS, WISECO FORGED PISTONS, COSWORTH HIGH TENSILE HEADSTUDS UPGRADE FROM ARP. I DO NOT RATE THE ARP HEADSTUDS ANY FURTHER AND STI TUNING WILL NO LONGER SUPPLY THESE.

COMETIC HEAD GASKETS, POWER ENTERPRISE KEVLAR TIMING BELT, NEW FRONT AND REAR CRANKSHAFT SEALS. AND ANY GASKETS THEREAFTER NEEDED RENEWING. AND FRESH OILS, COOLANT AND PLUGS. NGK PLATINUM 7'S. WITH NGK 8'S FOR HEAVY USAGE.

ALSO A LITTLE TURBO UPGRADE ON THIS ROUND TO HELP BHP PROCEEDINGS.

AND OF COURSE WILL BE MAPPED BY BOB RAWLE

STi TUNING

BELOW IS SNEAK PICTURES OF CUSTOM PINNING OF THE BLOCK. OTHERS WILL FOLOW TOMORROW:

Top work Dave. Whats the advantages of pinning rather than using a closed deck? Is it to keep weight down?

great way of strenghtening a 2.2 block dave. welldone on getting the work done in ireland and great stuff jp for not selling the car and upping the power for this year, it should be an interesting year on the drag strip with your car, micks, als and daves wagon, good bit of competition.

dave, why dont you rate the ARP studs anymore??

Advantage is cylinder wall support. So under high stress like high boost on high horse power builds it is there to try aid best as possible cylinder wall fracturing/cracking prevention similer to closed deck blocks and why being block of choice for high end builds. But these are only required 400+ in 2.25 or 2.5 builds if high abuse track/drag intended. Ej22 closed blocks are extremely hard to come by and value area e1350 before machined. so really area e2000 machined. these blocks come in area e1000 machine. so this is a second solution. Also can be an upgrade to ej20 and ej25 semi closed deck blocks with x4 corners support.

Yep it will. Hopefully get them all finished in time for may.

Basically dont like way they preform. Way we are now is standard subaru head studs upto 380bhp. After that cosworth 180,000psi ones upto 425bhp. Cosworth high tensile 260,000 upto 475-500bhp. But any car from 425bhp+ going for hard usage like track/drag serious abuse its 14mm wrc stud conversion.

Cheers.

Some great looking work going on there Dave, you are getting a reputation for some serious builds with serious power. Can't wait till my lotto numbers come up.

She finished 421bhp but a massive 451 lb ft torque so has serious punch..

Lets see how her quarter mile times fairs out...

Great reults out of her JP and super work Dave.
Have not been out in her yet but looking forward to a spin.
