Battery light and heavy steering

Got in the car there about an hour ago and was doing my usual 3 point turn to get out the estate.
As i was reversing and turning the steering gor very heavy as if the power steering had gone and the battery light was flashing.
I then put it into 1st to turn right and move forward and the problem had gone. :ponder2:
I got out and looked under the bonnet and the belt seemed fine. Wasn't slipping or jammed.
Went for a careful drive and all seemed fine.
Anybody experienced this before or know what it might be?

Yeah it was idling on full lock and cold engine alright.
Made some sense to me when the light was flashing as the alternator and power steering pump use the same belt.
Not sure why it happened though :dontknow:
